Honeycomb First Base Water and Power Setup

Build a practical first base in Honeycomb with water, power, a sealed room, and essential stations while keeping unverified launch-build values explicit.

FAQ

Does the water pump need power?
Treat the pump as part of the powered base loop: place the available power producer close enough for the current range indicator to include the pump, then inspect the finished station.
Why is a base facility not working?
Check completion, operating-range overlap, power and water input, available capacity, required materials, and any in-game error message before treating the symptom as a bug.

Where should I place the first base?

Choose a practical area near a suitable water source with enough room for a sealed room and the stations required by the current objective. A short return route matters more than a perfect long-term location: the first base should let you recover from a failed expedition without losing the basic water and power loop.

Use the Sota 7 starting area map for route context and the early resource route for materials that are already observed. Do not treat a video landmark as a fixed coordinate until the launch build confirms it.

How do water and power connect?

Equip the drone builder and open the building menu. Place the water pump at the appropriate source, place the available power producer nearby, and select the producer or station to inspect its operating-range indicator. Keep dependent facilities inside the displayed valid area and inspect the completed structure before adding more consumers.

The official game site describes building around water sources and power equipment, while existing videos show a range-based connection workflow. Exact range, capacity, production, and material values are not yet published here because they require a current-build check.

Which stations belong in the first build?

Build the smallest working shell first, then add stations as the current objective and in-game blueprint allow. The following table describes the role of each facility without pretending that its recipe or unlock order is universal:

FacilityEarly purposeCurrent data status
Water pumpStarts the base water loopSource and working condition observed; exact cost/capacity pending
Power producerSupplies nearby consumersRequired for the observed powered loop; exact output pending
Multi-room and doorProvides a sealed indoor work areaFunction is documented; exact blueprint cost pending
Grow bedSupports plant cultivationSystem exists; plant results and recipe need live-build testing
FabricatorProduces components and equipmentRole is observed; unlock and material table pending
Multi-cookerProcesses or preserves foodRole is observed; recipes and output pending
Water dispenserConverts the base water supply into usable water itemsFilter, recipe, and capacity need current-build confirmation
Locker or storageKeeps supplies near the work loopProximity behavior is observed; exact range and capacity pending

The base facility connection reference covers range and storage behavior, while the first-day survival guide gives the recommended order for a new landing.

Why is my pump or station not working?

Use this order before reporting a bug:

  1. Confirm the structure finished building and is not still a placement preview.
  2. Select the producer and consumer and check that their displayed operating ranges overlap.
  3. Confirm the power producer is operating and that the pump or station is receiving the required input.
  4. Check current capacity, storage, materials, and any required filter or component.
  5. Read the exact in-game warning, then retry the smallest setup with one producer and one consumer.

If the minimal setup still fails, record the platform, game version, structure names, placement context, and a screenshot before using the known issues and troubleshooting guide.

Sources and version notes

The official Honeycomb website describes establishing a base around water, pumps, power, and growing facilities. Existing embedded videos remain pre-release observations; they support the workflow but not fixed launch-build recipes, capacities, or distances. The Steam store page confirms base building and crafting as core game systems.
