What is Honeycomb: The World Beyond?

Honeycomb: The World Beyond is a single-player survival, exploration, crafting, and base-building game set on the alien world of Sota 7. The official Steam listing describes the game’s exploration, resource gathering, construction, survival, and bioengineering systems.

This page is a gameplay orientation, not a transcript of a trailer or a substitute for a tested recipe database. Use it to choose the right next guide after watching the trailer.

What does the trailer show?

The trailer and official game material present a loop built around four connected activities:

  1. Explore Sota 7. Move out from a safe starting point, identify useful locations, and plan a return route before committing to a longer expedition.
  2. Research unfamiliar life. Scan alien flora, fauna, and objects with the analyzer before treating an observation as a confirmed resource or recipe.
  3. Build a working base. Turn gathered materials into rooms, water infrastructure, power, research equipment, and other facilities. A compact working base is more useful early on than decorative expansion.
  4. Manage survival pressure. Food, water, medical supplies, return distance, and immunity determine how far a research trip can safely go.

The existing videos on this wiki are retained as pre-release observations where indicated. They are useful for recognizing the systems, but they are not presented as full-release testing.

What should a new player do first?

Start with the first-day survival guide. It gives the practical opening order:

  • use the landing pod as the first work and fallback point;
  • collect confirmed early food and thirst support;
  • scan nearby plants, animals, and objects;
  • craft the starter tools made available by the current tutorial;
  • establish a return route and a small first base;
  • shorten the expedition when immunity begins to fall.

For the opening route, use the Sota 7 starting area map. For the first functional base, follow the water and power setup guide.

Is the game released and does it support co-op?

The official Steam listing gives September 8, 2026 as the release date and currently lists Honeycomb as single-player. For the current answer and the bug-report route, see the Honeycomb FAQ. Do not infer future co-op, console, VR, or cross-save support from a search result or a community discussion.

What should I read after the trailer?

Use the first-day survival guide if you have just landed. Use Known Issues and Troubleshooting if the game or a facility is not behaving as expected. Keep exact recipes, capacities, immunity values, and timers tied to a confirmed full-release screenshot or repeatable in-game test; this overview intentionally does not invent those figures.

Sources and version notes

This overview was checked on 2026-09-09 against the official Steam store page and the Honeycomb official website. The official Hive Update #14 is pre-release background for immunity, EON-sealed structures, and Animal Snacks; it is not used here to claim launch-build recipes or timings.
